City Centre Interchanges

Due to the historic nature of York city centre, we do not have a single bus station as per many other towns and cities. Instead, buses stop at one or more of the city centre interchanges.

Each bus stop in York city centre has a two-letter code:

• The first letter identifies the interchange;
• The second letter identifies the individual stop.

A 'Where to board your bus' poster is displayed at each interchange, showing where every bus service calls throughout the city centre.

A new smart ticket kiosk has been installed at each of the five main interchanges, allowing you to buy and top up your York by bus smartcard.

The pages below show which bus routes use each city centre stop.
