Resident Travel Scheme terms and conditions

These are the terms and conditions for taking part in the Resident Travel Scheme. When you apply you'll be asked to confirm that you agree with these terms and conditions.

References to ‘we’, ‘us’ or ‘our’ relate to City of York Council.

Bus pass

Replacements:

we won't provide a replacement of your pass. For example, if you lose it, start using it late or don’t manage to use it before it expires

Who you are:

as the applicant you're aged 18 or over. The primary user of the bus pass is also aged 18 or over, unless agreed with us
the applicant and user live in a property in one of the residential estates participating in this scheme
as the applicant and user, your household must be the first occupants of a property at the residential estate. Nobody has occupied the property before you
unless we have told you otherwise, only one bus pass is available per property. If someone from your home has already received a bus pass, then you cannot also apply

Using the bus pass:

the bus pass must only be used by people in your household. You cannot pass or sell it to someone living in another property

Feedback:

we'll ask you to feed back about how use of the bus pass went. For example, whether you used the bus afterwards. This will be via a questionnaire we send to you

Cycle discount

Making your purchase:

see the information provided to you about what purchases can and cannot be discounted - there might be restrictions on what sort of cycle accessories qualify
a discount can only be obtained via a cycle shop participating in this scheme
you cannot claim a discount until we have approved your application. You'll take the email or letter from us (approving your application) to the cycle shop as proof that you can receive the discount
the cycle shop is responsible for providing you with the equipment you need and setting it up correctly and safely. We're the provider of the discount only
the discount applies to only one transaction. You cannot make a later purchase with the rest of your discount. If you do not use all your discount in your purchase we'll not pay you the remaining amount
the offer is valid for 6 months. That is the time you have to make your purchase once you have received our email or letter approving your application

Who you are:

as the applicant you're aged 18 or over. The user can be any age
the applicant and user live in a property in one of the residential estates participating in this scheme
as the applicant and user, your household must be the first occupants of a property at the residential estate. Nobody has occupied the property before you
unless we have told you otherwise, only 1 cycle discount is available per property. If someone from your home has already received a cycle discount, then you cannot also apply
discounts from different households cannot be combined to make a bigger discount

Using the item(s):

the items bought must only be used by someone in your household. You cannot buy them on behalf of, pass or sell them to someone living in another property. This only applies for the first year that you own the items
the items bought must be used for some journeys, to go from one place to another. They cannot be bought for children to only play with, for example doing circuits in parks

Feedback:

we'll ask you to feed back about how use of the item(s) is going, for example, whether you're cycling more. This will be via a questionnaire we send to you

Car club discount

Read the Enterprise Car Club terms and conditions.

Replacements:

we won't provide further discounts. For example, if you delay using the car club and your account or offer with them expires

Who you are:

the applicant and/or user of the car club can be of any driving age
the applicant and user live in a property in one of the residential estates participating in this scheme
as the applicant and user, your household must be the first occupants of a property at the residential estate. Nobody has occupied the property before you
unless we have told you otherwise, only one car club discount is available per property. If someone from your home has already received a car club discount, then you cannot also apply

Using the car club discount:

the discount must only be used by someone in your household. You cannot pass it to someone living in another property

we'll ask you to feed back about how use of the car club went. For example, whether you used the car club afterwards. This will be via a questionnaire we send to you
